A talented singer from Goole got the new year off to an award-winning start. Shelly Noon (21), said she was “honoured” to find out on New Year’s Eve that she had won a radio station’s International Supreme Artist Award. She also scooped International Gold Award for her album, Life is a Melody. “I was really chuffed - it was great,” said Shelly, on learning that she had won. “I didn’t expect it.” Shelly began singing and dancing at an early age, and was part of a band called Cast a Shadow, which toured the country playing live rock, pop, soul and shadows tunes. When they split up, she formed the girl band I Candy with her friends and performed in local clubs and pubs. In 2006, Shelly decided to go solo, supported by her manager and mentor, Billy Kendall. After much hard work, and collaborations with British and American musicians, she released Life is a Melody. The album, which Shelly described as having “quite a lot of country on it”, won her the gold award from www.radiogetswild.com. A second album is planned, and Shelly is currently working on a new song written for her by Canadian bothers, The Masons, of MTV fame. Mr Kendall paid tribute to Shelly’s hard work and achievements. “It’s all starting to materialise now,” he said. “It’s only going to get better.” Life is a Melody is now available from download stores including: iTunes, Napster, MTV/VH1, Amazon and Yahoo music. and all major stores
